Balancing the Scales of Justice: National Security and the Rule of Law

Will Mackie is a career federal prosecutor who has been with the Department of Justice for over 25 years. He is a graduate of Duke University Law School and Washington & Lee University. As Senior Trial Attorney with the Counterespionage Section of the National Security Division at the DOJ, Mackie’s work covers combating the proliferation of strategic dual-use goods used in nuclear, WMD and conventional weapons; international arms trafficking; the Atomic Energy Act; and a range of national security laws involving traditional foreign espionage, including cyber espionage; theft of trade secrets and economic espionage. In this talk, he will discuss cyberethics as they pertain to national security and the rule of law.
