Annual Human Rights@Duke Lecture: Human Rights in the Neoliberal Maelstrom, Sep. 6

“The age of human rights has been kindest to the rich. Even as state violations of political rights garnered unprecedented attention due to human rights campaigns, a commitment to material equality disappeared. In its place, market fundamentalism has emerged as the dominant force in national and global economies.”

In his provocative new book, Not Enough: Human Rights in an Unequal World, Samuel Moyn analyzes how and why we chose to make human rights our highest ideals while simultaneously neglecting the demands of a broader social and economic justice.

Join us in the Jameson Gallery, 115 Friedl  on September 6th at 5 pm for a lecture by Professor Samuel Moyn

This event is co-sponsored by: The Duke Human Rights Center at the Kenan Institute for Ethics, The Duke Human Rights Center at the Franklin Humanities Institute, The Center for International and Comparative Law at Duke Law School, the History Department, Sanford School of Public Policy, The Human Rights Archive at the Rubenstein Library, and International Comparative Studies.
