Big Questions

Most ethical dilemmas we encounter hinge on specific circumstances, but they often point to bigger questions. Team Kenan’s new Big Questions series offers a forum for people to get together to chat about thematically linked ethical dilemmas on a regular basis.

Big Questions sessions are meant to be lively conversations with around ten participants in a relaxed atmosphere. Each session will examine several different cases that touch on a central dilemma. For example, when laws are passed to limit soda consumption or, less conventionally, to ban dwarf tossing, we wonder about how much legal paternalism is a good thing.

They take place in Team Kenan’s “home” in 103 West Duke Building every other Monday from 3:30pm until 5pm.

The first Big Questions event took place on February 4^th and focused on paternalism in law.

On February 18^th Big Questions examined animal ethics.

The next Big Questions event will be March 4^th and will center on issues of justice on the internet.
