Big Questions

Most ethical dilemmas we encounter hinge on specific circumstances, but they often point to bigger questions. Team Kenan’s new Big Questions series offers a forum for people to get together to chat about thematically linked ethical dilemmas on a regular basis.

Big Questions sessions are meant to be lively conversations with around ten participants in a relaxed atmosphere. Each session will examine several different cases that touch on a central dilemma. For example, when laws are passed to limit soda consumption or, less conventionally, to ban dwarf tossing, we wonder about how much legal paternalism is a good thing.

They take place in Team Kenan’s “home” in 103 West Duke Building every other Monday from 3:30pm until 5pm.

The first Big Questions event took place on February 4th and focused on paternalism in law.

On February 18th Big Questions examined animal ethics.

The next Big Questions event will be March 4th and will center on issues of justice on the internet.
