Student pitches for workshop with Jeff Polish of The Monti due Sept. 18

Info-300Story pitches on the theme of BETRAYAL are being accepted from Duke undergraduate and graduate students for the Storytelling and the Moral Imagination program! This is your chance to tell a creative, moving, personal story on stage at the Duke Coffeehouse in front of a live audience! Send it in by this Friday.

For those who were unable to attend the info session, you can view Jeff Polish’s presentation to the right, and watch videos from past storytelling events with The Monti via their Vimeo Channel. These can help give a sense of how to write a successful pitch, but no previous experience is required.

How to Submit

Write a pitch that is no longer than 200 words that suggests a story about…BETRAYAL.

Successful pitches typically include the following:

  • An idea of what happens in the story.
  • An idea of what the story is about.
  • A suggestion of what is learned as a result of the action in the story.

The final deadline for pitches is FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, AT 5:00PM. Email your pitch to pitch@themonti.org. If your pitch is selected, you will have the opportunity to work on and develop your story with Jeff Polish, Executive Director of The Monti. The live storytelling event will be held on Thursday, October 22nd, at the Duke Coffeehouse.
