Borrowing Policy
The circulating collection is intended for use by residents of Durham and surrounding counties in North Carolina (Chatham, Granville, Orange, Person, and Wake), that is, by individuals who can pick up and return the materials in person. All materials, including those marked "in-house," are available for use by the general public at the Kenan Institute for Ethics (102 West Duke Building, Duke East Campus) by appointment during normal business hours, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm Monday - Friday.

Individuals wishing to borrow resources or schedule an appointment for in-house use should call (919-660-3033) or email (kie@duke.edu) in advance so that staff can locate and prepare material for pick-up or in-house use.

When material is borrowed for out-of-office use, borrowers will be asked to complete a form requesting contact information and a credit card number to be held in case of overdue fines or charges for replacement or damage.

Borrowing Period
Three weeks (21 days).
Patrons will receive an email or phone reminder of the due date toward the end of the three-week period.

Overdue Fines and Replacement/Damage Charges
Overdue fines are charged at a rate of $1.00 per day. Materials will be considered "lost" if not returned 15 days after due date, and replacement cost will be charged to patron. Patrons are responsible for repair costs for damage to items while they are checked out to them.
