Kenan
Institute of Private Enterprise
The Frank Hawkins Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise
brings together people working in business, academic institutions
and government to encourage cooperative approaches to market-based
economic development and using the private sector to serve
the public interest in the United States and worldwide.
The Kenan Institute partners with businesses to develop
strategies that heighten their competitiveness and boost
their bottom lines. It works with communities, regions and
nations to help them plan and build both hard and soft infrastructures
that enhance their economies and quality of life. The Institute
also works with individuals and institutions to create training
opportunities that broaden their exposure to knowledge and
build the human capital that makes them more productive.

at the North Carolina School of the Arts in 1993 to foster,
encourage and support initiatives dedicated to the enrichment
and growth and development of cultural life in society.
Its successful A+ Schools Program, also established in 1993,
uses the arts as a vehicle to help students master the requirements
of the core curriculum in many North Carolina public schools.
