Institute for Genome Sciences and Policy, seeks to foster

science through research, teaching, and public discussion.

Fuqua/Coach K Center of Leadership & Ethics (COLE)
The Fuqua/Coach K Center of Leadership & Ethics (COLE)
was established by Duke
University's Fuqua
School of Business (in collaboration with the Duke
Athletics Department, and Kenan
Institute for Ethics at Duke University) to advance
leadership and ethics through research and education. Through
this dynamic partnership, the center leverages the intellectual
resources and practical experiences of leading academic
and practitioner institutions to bridge theory and practice.
As a global think tank, COLE will convene leading scholars
and corporate leaders world-wide to advance key leadership
and ethics issues. COLE's activities are broad but focused,
providing numerous opportunities for involvement and learning
to researchers, students and practitioners. COLE strives
to influence the way students, academics, corporations,
governments, and non-profits think about and practice business
leadership and ethics in the 21st century.

Service Center
The Duke University Community Service Center (CSC) is a
clearinghouse for the numerous volunteer and community service
activities available to students, faculty, and employees.
The CSC strives to engage members of the Duke community
in thoughtful, collective action, enrich the educational
experience of students, and assist our home city of Durham.

and Media, DeWitt Wallace Center for Communications and
Journalism at Duke University
Duke
Center for the Study of Medical Ethics and Humanities
The Center for the Study of Medical Ethics and Humanities
aims to promote excellence in scholarship and teaching in
medical ethics and the medical humanities. The Center creates
an interdisciplinary forum where physicians and scholars
can examine important questions at the intersection of medicine,
ethics, and the humanities. Through its work, the Center
hopes to play a vital role in informing discussions about
critical issues related to medical ethics and the humanistic
aspects of medicine as well as to serve as a model for training.
Hart
Leadership Program at Duke University
The Hart Leadership Program (HLP) was founded in 1986 with
a generous gift from the Milledge A. Hart III Family Endowment.
The HLP is the first endowed undergraduate leadership program
in the country and is a pioneer in academic service-learning
programs. To date, more than 2,500 students have taken HLP
courses and nearly half of those have participated in some
form of service-learning experience.
Honor
Council at Duke University
The mission of the Honor Council is to promote academic
integrity on campus. The Honor Council is composed of approximately
twenty undergraduate students from all four classes. They
are chosen annually through an established application and
interview process. Students remain on the Council until
their graduation. Faculty members and administrators also
sit on the Council.
Office
of Community Affairs at Duke University
Duke University's Office of Community Affairs coordinates
the Duke-Durham Neighborhood Partnership Initiative, which
focuses on improving quality of life in the twelve neighborhoods
near campus and boosting student achievement in the seven
public schools that serve them.

Conduct of Research at Duke
Training in the Responsible Conduct of Research is required
for all doctoral students, including those in the humanities
and social sciences starting in the fall of 2003.

Service-Learning
at Duke University
Founded on the concept of reciprocity, Service-Learning
at Duke strives to bring theory and practice, schools and
communities, thought and action closer together. A joint
initiative of faculty, students, and individuals and organizations
in Durham, the Service-Learning Program provides students
the opportunity to develop and to sustain a life-long ethic
of service and civic engagement. This site includes an

and resources across the country.
