Content
of Our Character
The Content of Our Character project brought together approximately
50 twenty-somethings from across the nation to Durham, North
Carolina, in August 1998, in order to share ideals and develop
a vision for ethical leadership. They collectively wrote
a covenant outlining guiding principles and policy options
in four fields: politics, markets, civil society, and communities.
Hart
Leadership Program at Duke University
The Hart Leadership Program (HLP) was founded in 1986 with
a generous gift from the Milledge A. Hart III Family Endowment.
The HLP is the first endowed undergraduate leadership program
in the country and is a pioneer in academic service-learning
programs. To date, more than 2,500 students have taken HLP
courses and nearly half of those have participated in some
form of service-learning experience.
The
International Center for Ethics, Justice & Public Life
The International Center for Ethics, Justice, and Public
Life at Brandeis University exists to illuminate the ethical
dilemmas and obligations inherent in global and professional
leadership, with particular focus on the challenges of racial,
ethnic, and religious pluralism. Examining responses to
past conflicts, acts of intervention, and failures to intervene,
the Center seeks to enable just and appropriate responses
in the future. Engaging leaders and future leaders of government,
business, and civil society, the Center crosses boundaries
of geography and discipline to link scholarship and practice
through publications, programs, and projects.
